DRESS CODE & CEREMONY PROTOCOL

Lakû Mètrès La Vodoun Institute of Spiritual and Holistic Ginen Sciences:
At Lakû Mètrès La, entry into sacred space is deliberate.
Nothing about ceremony is casual.

The spirits do not meet you first through speech. They meet your body, your posture, your cleanliness, your stillness, your attention to order.

Dress, movement, silence, and discipline are ritual language. Before a Lwa listens, they observe. Before an ancestor responds, they assess alignment.

This Dress Code and Ceremony Protocol exist to preserve spiritual order, energetic safety, ancestral law, and collective harmony within the Lakou, the Badji, and all ritual spaces governed by Lakû Mètrès La.

These guidelines are not suggestions. They are agreements.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF SACRED DRESS

All attire worn in ritual space must reflect humility, readiness, modesty, and service.

The body must remain a neutral vessel, never a distraction.
Nothing worn in ceremony should pull focus from the spirits, the altar, or the work.

Sacred space is not a stage.
It is a place of presence, listening, restraint, and obedience to order.

PROHIBITED ATTIRE (AT ALL TIMES)

The following are strictly prohibited in the Laku, Badji, and all ceremonial environments, regardless of level::

  • Revealing or body-hugging clothing of any kind
  • Tight dresses, skirts, leggings, or fitted pants
  • Shorts, mini skirts, crop tops, low-cut or backless tops
  • Sheer, transparent, or lace fabrics
  • Heels, boots, or flashy footwear
  • Ripped, torn, distressed, or decorative pants
  • Excessive jewelry or noisy accessories
  • Artificial nails that interfere with ritual work
  • Strong perfumes, colognes, or overpowering scents

The spirits must smell earth, flowers water, smoke, and cleanliness, not chemicals or vanity.
